TripAdvisor compiled the rankings by factoring the quantity and quality of pizza restaurant reviews, giving extra weight to reviews from the past year. Also, the ratio of pizza restaurant reviews to non-pizza ones was taken into account.

“Using time-tested techniques and premium ingredients, the top-10 U.S. pizzerias are successful as they always keep their eyes on the pies,” said Brooke Ferencsik, TripAdvisor’s director of communications. “These popular pizza joints toss up mouthwatering and sometimes unique takes on the American staple from apricot-sauced pies in Alaska to white clam creations in Connecticut.” (more…)

More than 10,000 people voted in our readers favorite pizza poll. There was deep passion evident. As the poll, hundreds of comments and our past experience clearly show, pizza is infinitely more popular than doughnuts, king cake or fried chicken. On Monday (June 15), the winner of the taste testing will be announced.

Here’s a number you probably thought you’d never see: The global organic food and beverage industry grew to more than $100 billion last year. Forecasts call for the industry to grow at a 12.8 percent annual rate.  The U.S. accounts for almost half of those sales.

This is a bandwagon that has some real speed and momentum and is getting more crowded every year. Companies are responding to consumer demands and churning out more organic products. In turn, there are many more points of sale.  (more…)
