The 2018 Pizza Power Report

To stay competitive in the pizza business in 2018, independents will have to meet customers’ growing demand for speed, customization, delivery and convenience.

This year’s Pizza Power Report practically wrote itself. As we combed through the numbers and reviewed the year’s leading and trailing trends, the same buzzwords and brands kept appearing.

It became crystal clear that pizza consumers want their pizza the way they want it and as fast as they can get it. Fast-casual pizza chains like Blaze Pizza and MOD Pizza showed some of their best unit and sales growth yet, proving that consumers are still yearning for customization and speed in their pizza experience. Domino’s, meanwhile, has blazed new trails with digital technologies that, as we’ll explain later in our report, could soon move the chain into the No. 1 position over Pizza Hut. read more – http://www.pmq.com/December-2017/The-2018-Pizza-Power-Report-A-State-of-the-Industry-Analysis/

Driverless Pizza Delivery is Coming

Pizza Hut and Toyota forge global partnership to explore the future of pizza delivery, beginning with the development of Toyota’s e-Palette autonomous concept vehicle unveiled Jan. 8 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Domino’s and Ford Motor Company were the first to join together with a plan to deliver pizzas without a driver.

Now Pizza Hut has jumped on the proverbial bandwagon, announcing its “global partnership” with Toyota on Monday that will test a self-driving vehicle called e-Palette, which can deliver food and act as a mobile store in several regions, including the U.S., according to Dallas News. read more – http://www.pmq.com/January-2018/Driverless-Pizza-Delivery-is-Coming/

The New Year is a Great Time for a Facelift

If your pizza shop’s exterior makes people want to run away instead of walk in, here’s how you can make changes for the better.

If your pizzeria is in a neighborhood that sees a lot of foot traffic, some of your best business may come from those who were just passing by. The exterior of your building, after all, is a 24/7 billboard that can either attract or detract from your business. If the outside makes people want to run away instead of walk in, take note of the following tips for updating your pizzeria’s curb appeal.

1) Clean up your act. Consumers want to believe the pizzeria they’re entering is clean. If the outside area has dirty windows or litter on the ground or appears to be in general disrepair, many potential guests will think twice about walking through that door. Approach your pizzeria as an outsider would and take notes about what stands out, for better or worse. Make sure your staff’s daily cleaning schedule includes the building’s exterior and consider a professional pressure-washing once every few months.
